Howdy.

So I thought it would be a really good idea if people recommended some songs they think deserves to be listened to.
Don't post tunes which are funny or have heavy swearing in or tunes which deserve to be burned (in a fire). For instance "The Streets" and any of there songs. You may like them but in my opinion its just speaking... which anyone can do.

If you want to listen to a tune I suggest you go to the Artist website to see if they have a sample. If not go and buy it from a shop or legal download. you don't need to worry about me illegally downloading music. I'm on dial up lol.

So here we go.

Maximum of 1 song per artist. Maximum of 5 artists.

Metallica - No leaf clover - S&M album
What a great album. You see the word metallica and you think "heavy metal". You listen to this album which was recorded live with the San Francisco orchestra and you just think... wow.... rock and classical, what a great combo.

Infected Mushroom - Mushi Mushi
A techno group. I really like all of there tunes. If you don't like anything electronica then this might not be for you. But its great car music. Some stuff to get you going and some stuff to help you wind down.

Yellow Card - Life of a salesman - Ocean Avenue
They used to be a bit like girly pop rock but they just keep getting better and better. A good band and they go down well with most people.

Bloc Party - Banquet - Silent Alarm
A great new band with a new remixed album. Once again some tunes to get you going and some to wind you down. You might of heard there song Helicopter on Burnout Revenge and the new SSX.

Trivium - Dying in your arms - Acsendancy
A new metal band who are set to be the new metallica. Some very very heavy stuff. Dying in your arms is one which I would recommend you listen to if your new to metal. If you want some more heavy stuff give "Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr" a listen. The only bad thing I can say about this group is the shouting. It's not needed and many people think the same thing. There new album which will be out soon is meant to have much less shouting.

Well these are my 5 recommendations. I really would like you guys to give each artist a try. So why don't you list your 5 and I will try to get round to listening to them :)

Remember this isn't your best 5 songs. This is the 5 songs you would recommend.

Placebo - Special Needs

Page with Sample (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008AWOD/qid=1143382390/sr=8-8/ref=pd_ka_8/202-9087191-2035859)

Godsmack - I stand Alone

Loses some cred as it's on the Scorpion king soundtrack

The Smiths - How soon is Now

Legend..nothing needs to be said for this one!

Linkin Park - My December (My<Dsmbr in geek speak)

On the Re-Animation album. Page with Sample (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000069CWE/qid=1143382760/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_11_3/202-9087191-2035859)

Green Day - Basket Case

All time classic...best song they'll ever do.

Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (Holden Remix)
Amazing Progressive House Tune that seems to just build and build.

Sample Here (http://www.music-head.de/sounds/nph-sound.ram?labelcode=06BC&setno=1&trackno=1) You need to have RealPlayer installed for it to work.

Can I just recommend 1 song - which I personally love:

The Zutons - You will you won't.

Simply brilliant.

Blaze Lord
26/Mar/06, 05:44 PM
Oh my god. Apparently I have a lot to do.

Therion - The Crowning of Atlantis - Crowning of Atlantis
If you thought you liked Metallica's S&M, you'll kick it to the curb after hearing Therion. Whereas S&M often came across as gimicky, (like.. the album title?), Therion adds new levels with operatic female vocals and mythological concept albums. This is the opening track of a solid Therion album.

Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl - Under the Pink
Wonderful song, simply said. Tapping the Vein also does a great cover. If I had 6 artists, I'd probably give a Tapping song too.

Talib Kweli - Get By - Quality
Probably the best introduction to Kweli, it's almost pop-y, but certainly not a turn-off.

Spinal Tap - Big Bottom - This is Spinal Tap
From the band that brought you the masterful album Break like the Wind comes this classic commentary on gender relations.

RJD2 - Ghostwriter - Dead Ringer
You've actually heard this song a few times in commercials, but now you get to listen uncut and in its entirety.

This is going to be a case of me showing you all my extremely varied musical taste, but the fact that I can pick so many good songs from so many good genres shows why it's good to be varied.

Anyway, yeah...

Aisha - Death In Vegas - The Contino Sessions
Amazing electronica stuff. It appeared in Gran Turismo 3, so some of you may remember it. I can't exactly explain why it's so good, but I'd recommend it anyway - great stuff.

Mindfields - Prodigy - The Fat of the Land
When most people think Prodigy, they think Firestarter, Smack My B*tch Up and Breathe, but I think this is their finest tune. Great stuff.

Death or Glory - The Clash - London Calling
Now there's a lot of Clash stuff I could recommend, but I think Death or Glory probably just beats some of their other stuff, like Should I Stay Or Should I Go, Rock The Casbah, White Riot, and loads of other stuff from the London Calling album.

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd - Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd
Now I don't care if the Scissor Sisters made it painful to listen to properly - this is clearly Pink Floyd's greatest song. Amazing chillout-style song.

How Soon Is Now? - The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow
As MJ said earlier, this song needs no introduction or description. Just listen to it. It's fooking brilliant.

Metallica - No leaf clover - S&M album

Trivium - Dying in your arms - Acsendancy

No Leaf Clover is mint (Y), probably my favorite Metallica Song. Dying in your Arms is also good.

Placebo - Special Needs

The Smiths - How soon is Now

this is good if you like your stuff hard and twisted

Aphex Twin/AFX/Richard D James is the bomb. I have everything by him. I love the video by Chris Cunningham for Come to Daddy, but Window Licker was best, actualy, even his song On which was directed by Jarvis Cocker was brill aswell.

Anyone who thinks that his music is twisted is right, but if you have only listened or heard his singles then you have exp nothing.

Anyhow, i have loads of songs to recommend and to cancel out the above, i rec listening to Global Communications remix of The Grid's - Rollecoster. One of my fav peice of music, infact it's epic. Hard to get hold of and to find to dl so if you do look it's on their Remotion album.

But you can go to rockstar.msn.com, click on Performances, and skip to the second one by Storm Large, that'll work after about 15 seconds of an ad.

I've been listening to a lot of music lately, thanks to my Zune Pass subscription. So I have a good chunk of music to recommend to you lot!

Muse- City of Delusion- Black Holes and Revelations
Fantastic song, my favorite one from their new album.

Light my Fire- The Doors-The Very best of the Doors
Great song, one of the songs they played in their famous Ed Sullivan show performance.

Change- Deftones- White Pony
A very unique band, and this is their best song in my opinion, top quality.

Peace-Paul Kelly- Soundings in Film
Not the Australian rocker dude, but the electronic guy well anyway it's a good lyric-less song.

Ball and Chain- Social Distortion- Social Distortion
It has a country, sort of feel to it, but it's a great song, defo worth a listen.

Bullet with butterfly wings-Smashing Pumpkins-Rotten Apples:Greatest Hits
My favorite SP song along with Disarm, which I also recommend.

El Faro- Santana- Supernatural
I love it, kind of song you sit back and relax to.

Dark Chest of Wonders-Nightwish- Once
I have to thank Tobez for sparking the curiosity to check this band out, and they're awesome!

Baba O'Riley- The Who- The Ultimate Collection
Great song, first heard it on a Skate video, Mislead Youth, been listeing to it ever since.

The Very best of Depeche Mode Vol.1
That's right, the whole Album; Okay that's a little over the top, but they're just so awesome.

Just played the new Paul Hartnoll album (The Ideal Condition) (One half of Orbital). If you can imagine the usual Orbital tracks done by a 32 piece orchestra and choir you will pretty much get the jist of this. Some great tracks on it.

JJBDude if you like the Pendulum mix of Voodoo People I suggest you check out some of the stuff on Hospital recordings, especially Hospital 4 mixed by Cyantific its fooking class.

I just downloaded it last night and listened to the first half, loving it so far. "Fluorescent Adolescent" is probably my favourite song out of what I've listened to.

The new Kaiser Chief's album, Yours Truly, Angry Mob is also quite good, especially the first two tracks.

Their MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/cagedbaby) site has some good tunage to download.

The bands Website (http://www.cagedbaby.com/audio.htm) also has some full length DJ mixes :D

he's playing a guitar raised, he has done for a while (i think he has one on the crawling video).
they are going back to their old sound, which is good, coz all that ---- with jay z was terrible, as if they werent bad enough songs before, they had to let a god awful 'rapper' have his way with them!

I'm quite liking Chris Cornell's new solo album Carry On. It's really nothing like Audioslave, Soundgarden, or Temple of the Dog. It's pretty different from his first solo album as well. Sort of a mix of jazz, soul, and rock. Not very many pounding guitars on this one.
