View Full Version : Opinion on PS3 Games
I was wondering what people's opinion was on games currently out, and that are coming out on the PS3. The reason Im asking is Im looking at getting a PS3 when the Slim comes out this September, and I wanted to know what peoples opinion on in there mind the best games on PS3 out there, and that are coming out in the near future.
Im already looking at LittleBigPlanet, and SOCOM, but I'm not 100% sure what else is worth for me to rent, or buy.

The only games for ps3 that appeal to me are MGS4 and God of War, when it comes out. Other than those two nothing else appeals to me at all. I'm not a 360 fanboy at all, i've had numerous opportunities to buy a ps3, but i'm still ps3-less.

Resistance 1 & 2 are worth a look, as is Uncharted, Little Big Planet and GT Prologue. There are also some great PSN titles to take a peek at, such at GT Club and Cuboid.

I rarely use mine, when i do its for Drakes Fortune or Motorstorm. I would use it more but I really hate the controller. There is some great PSN games as well like SuperStarDust HD, Wipeout HD as well.
Currently Out
Retail:
Uncharted
Metal Gear Solid 4
KillZone 2
Little Big Planet
inFamous
MotorStorm & MotorStorm 2
Resistance & Resistance 2
Ratchet & Clank
Heavenly Sword
Burnout Paradise + Street Fighter IV (Multiplatform I know but IMO they play better on PS3)
PlayStation Network:
Wipeout HD + Fury Add-on
GranTurismo 5 Prologue
Fat Princess
PixelJunk Eden
PixelJunk Monsters
PixelJunk Racer
SuperStarDust HD
Flower (for the chill factor)
Flow (for the chill factor)
Warhawk (though its getting a bit old now)
SOCOM (or Retail)
Coming up:
God of War 3
MAG
Uncharted 2
New Ratchet
PixelJunk Shooter
GranTurismo 5
There are probably others but I can't think of them right now.
The games mentioned above that are out are more than enough to see you through till new games come out at the end of the year. With more and more devs using the PS3 as the base platform for their titles (now that they are getting comfortable with the platform), you'll start to see it pull away, all but slowly when you compare mutliplatform titles. Just a shame the online experience for games is absolute carp. Hopefully with the Slim, we'll see more people jumping on.

Well, im selling my PS3.
But in the time I had it, Metal Gear Solid 4 was fantastic. LBP was fun, Motorstorm was great too.

Im already looking at LittleBigPlanet, and SOCOM, but I'm not 100% sure what else is worth for me to rent, or buy.
LBP is a good game but if you are going to create levels for it make sure you have the time and patience to do so. I found it took me ages to make a level to get it to feel good enough to release to the gaming public and some things do randomly go wrong in it. You can now get it for £9.99 Little Big Planet (http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/499200/SONY-PS3-LITTLE-BIG?cm_ven=AFFILIATEWINDOW&cm_mmc=AW-_-HotUKDeals-_-links-_-generic) but it's store pick up only though.
I wouldn't buy SOCOM I'd rent it. I think I've played my copy twice in total but then I only really bought it because it came bundled with the official headset.
Metal Gear Solid Guns Of The Patriots is another quality game that you can pick up cheaply now as well if you like the MGS series that is. Uncharted Drakes Fortune is another game that people rave about as well but I've never played the full game only the demo.

And I nearly forgot Disgaea 3 - if you're into RPG strategy games, Disgaea 3 could be the only game you need on PS3 for months.
Oh, and Valkeria Chronicles is another great strategy RPG.

For the games I have:
I like Resistance 1....though I only play it in small doses of an hour every month or so. LBP is great but again I can only take it in small sessions.
Motorstorm is good but I never play it, MGS4 is ----, Lair is not great...better than MGS4 though, Singstars are all quality. Warhawk I did enjoy but PSN online is toss, so whilst it's a good game it's a pretty hollow experience.
My games I still haven't played, Resistance 2, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted...but will get round to it one day.
PS3 just doesn't cut is as a gaming machine for me, really just mine for streaming movies and blu-rays.

Best PS3 Game I have played is Infamous main problem is any game that is on Xbox 360 and PS3 always looks better I think on the 360, the 360 has better online features the only way PS3 wil ever beat the Xbox is if they make a kick ass online service and release many more exclusives for the PS3.

resistance 1 and 2 are great
smashing aliens up in machester cahedral caused some issues with the church of england, witch is cool by me.
heavenly sword and drakes fortune are good but i havent finished them plainly because of the controller their made for small Japenese hands ive stopped buying games for the ps3 just because the controller is so ----ign awful

I like most PS3 exclusive. I play a lot of MLB 09: The Show, and finally put Infamous on the shelf. I'm going back and replaying Drake's Fortune.
I'm really anticipating Uncharted 2. Really, with the PS3 dropping down to $299... in any other economy I'd be saying buy one just for that game alone.
As one who owns a 360 already, buying a PS3 was a tough call. I did it and I love having both consoles.
I guess it's really about your openness towards games and how much you're willing to play. Infamous was my first game, I loved it. Picked up Motorstorm Pacific and love that (being a Burnout Paradise junkie, this game came through great). For sake of my gamerscore, I decided to only stick to PS3 Exclusives games when buying this and I'm having a pretty good time.
There are a lot of good exclusives to try, and even new ones coming, like Uncharted 2, new Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and now God of War 1+2 will be coming in December, as well as countless others (plus, now we're aware that PS Store will carry more PSX/1 titles in the future).
I guess it's really up to you; if you're into all genre types, then the PS3 might suit you because there are a pretty healthy mix of exclusive games in each genre class. You might even be surprised. Infamous is my GOTY atm, never saw that coming.

Im selling my PS3 - However I will get the new PS3 slim. Prefer the new sleek design in comparison to the glossy model.
With my PS3 I will focus more on Single Player games, I haven't had the opportunity to play either Infamous or Drakes Fortune so I might have to get them both and try them out. Dead space is definitely another one on my playlist for the PS3.
And it's great to see God of War 1 & 2 coming onto the Network as Fuzzy said.
EDIT: And I recommend Heavenly Sword to EVERYONE. Such a good game.

PS3 also includes ps home, a virtual world for ps3 users to chat and play games. You can connect a keyboard and talk with your friends

Access to ps home is completely freetheres also life with playstation, it shows big globe of the earth, in which you can find the temperatures and local news of countries all over the world. pretty cool, this is also free... Thanks for sharing the post...
