View Full Version : Learning to drive
So i've been learning to drive for around 2 months now, i have been with an independent driving instructor throughout that time but i have decided to stop with him as i felt as though i wasn't progressing well with him. Now i am looking for another good driving instructor so would you guys recommend a driving school i.e AA, BSM or Surepass or do you think that the none independant instructors are the best.
Your help would be much appreciated. :)

I've been using an independent instructor and have done since October. I could probably pass my test about now but I want to make sure I'm ready. I've got another loads of lessons (another 2, maybe 3 weeks). I think patience is the key and possibly putting extra practice in.
As to answer your question regarding driving instructors, I'm not too sure...

BSM are rubbish. They milk you for money. And their prices are ridiculous.
Go with an independant one, there is a dude near me, who gives you about 30 minutes-1hr a lesson free, gives free theory stuff, and is £18!
Good times :P
All my mates passed with him
How many lessons did you guys have before you passed then?
Is the theory that hard? I've got the dvd's so is it just a matter of looking at them for a bit?

If I was to take my test and pass next week, I'd have had 14 lessons.
I paid for 20 to start with so I'll end up going for the full works before taking the test.

I learned driving more than a decade back
I've decided to go with Surepass as they seem to have a decent reputation, first lesson was last week and all the instructor did was go through everything i should know about driving. Little bit dissapointing that i wasn't able to just go for a short drive but i hope my next double lesson will have a bit more driving! It's not all bad though as i can just go drive with my dad when i want now. :)
