The PS3 handles the update process really badly, the firmware updates can take forever to download as the network capacity available is really poor. Then just as you think great that that done you now need a Title update for the game your playing which is usually followed by another install process. Its hardly gamer friendly.
Mines has been used on and off the past couple of weeks to watch some Bluray movies, I have been told the Killzone 2 demo will be available today so no doubt we will be waiting a few hours to get that downloaded and installed.

I know they are a pain but they only help speed up the loading times when in the game.

killzone2 doesn't contain a disk update and all the reviewer's have complained about it.

Their copies are review copies, no word yet on a final game install on a retail disk.

Yea suppose, i think the problem most people have with it is that it is manditory? I would personally always install but their are alot of people who would choose not too.

Back out of the update, sign out of PSN and you can play without waiting. Solved.
Tho I'll admit the constant updates are annoying and when you consider the arse-ache just for silly XMB stuff like the photo album update. System update mostly for the photo album, when you try it you realise you've still to download the software! ARRGH!
When you've jumped through all the hoops you realise in this case that the XMB arrangement is better to use anyway!

PS is ridiculous for it, they should make updates customisable, if you don't use the photo album... uncheck a box that will no longer download updates for it. So if you watch videos, it would automatically update the codecs etc. But no, the structure is ----ed, and Sony force you to put up with download useless updates in order to play a game that has absolutely nothing to do with what you have to update.

At least mine wont be switched on for another 8 days :) Killzone 2 better be above average or I fear my PS3 may be on its last legs as a gaming machine.

ive only enjoyed 2 games on my ps3 resitance 1 and 2
not really a fair comment as thiers loads of multiplatform games i like but i get them on the 360. i mean im sure bioshock, cod's dead space mirros edge ect are worth playing on ps3 as well.

I love resistance 2, the multiplayer's pretty good!
I was rather surprised this morning, I put in my Killzone 2 Disc and no update...... no install...... No way....... Hold on, I can just play the game??? Wow, thank you! There's me thinking i'd have to go do the dishes whilst it installs, now i can leave them for the dish washer :geek:

Nice...whereas I bought LBP the other week and was nearly half an hour after whacking the disc in before I could play due to 4 or 5 updates being downloaded and installed 1 after the other....a piss take.

There is nothing worse when you want a quick blast of something for yuo to be sat there waiting for something to download and install.
