new 2 ps3 but already having problems

I have just brought a ps3, mainly for the bluray, but then decided to buy some games i have alot of friends with ps3's so i brought cod 4 a trade in from game for £20 but i just cannot get a game on line. All safe guards are off in case that was the problem it just keeps saying GETTING GAME DATA, so i switch it off and on at least 10 times then i might get in to the lobby then after most game the lobby closed. I remember when i got my 360 and the problems there were with that but because so many people complained, and the fact we were paying for the xbox live it now works like a dream, all my mates say the same ps3 live is slow compaired to xbox live (then again it is free).

anyway any ideas on why cod 4 is hard to get onto? i have played resistance fall of man with 40 players on one game and that is fine!

I would try deleting all of your CoD4 save ect... and then retrying it(obv last option) but ive never had this problem and never heard of this specfic one. I dont know if im reading this right but you seem to say that this is happened before so it could be something to do with your router? and the fact you dont pay for PSN dont mean that they dont fix any mistakes they have although this seams to be in individual problem spefic to you.

Try the new firmware update. See if that fixes things.

cheers for that, there was an update to day so i will try it later when i get a chance. My router is all set up fine, some one at work said that he had problems with his but he said when he activated his PS3 in one of the many sud menus it worked alot better (i don't know where) cheers anyway, it could be down to the game disc it self who knows.
