"We hope to have a service that can compete with Live on our launch. We have all the functionality in place the only problem is how are we going to be able to attract intellegent gamers and not the types of gamers that our competitors are attracting. We really don't want the American Idol rejects, the 30 to 50 IQ point crowd, or the current and future 45 year old in Mamma's basement group that XBOX Live seems to be so populated with. This has been our major focus and will possibly be what delays our ONLINE capabilities."

It'd be great if it was them that spelt "intelligent" wrongly, but I've got a feeling it isn't.

This may be fake counting the spelling is horrible and there is no link to it.
I gotta say, this seems very unprofessional, so I highly doubt that it comes from Sony. Even though we read about trash talking between companies, it's a "professional" trash talk. For example, Macs "What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac? More than it ever did in a PC". A little indirect but nonetheless trash talk.
This Live trashing is just pathetic. This really sounds like it would come from an "American Idol reject" with a "30 to 50 IQ point crowd" and probably a "current or future 45 year old in Mamma's basement group". I mean come on, and don't get me wrong, I'm not jumping at sharplayer for finding this quote, but this could've come from a dude that probably can't even have an internet connection and hence the "piss-off Xbox Live" attitude for all I know.
And as I said, IF this is an official Sony statement (which I still doubt), then I'm disappointed.
PS: Did I mention the grammar?

They spelt
intelligent wrong "intellegent"
Now surely these documents or whatever get thoroughly checked and if they still cant spell well I am laughing.
I'm with most here, don't believe it's true, but if it is it's pathetic.

Not true, lol.
No company would say something like that, plus there is no link.

Maybe they said it and then will deny it when asked just to give them attention but not to get them in trouble!

Yeah... No.
Sharp, where did you find this? Was it just something one of your friends told you..?

I doubt they would just go for a full out attack on XBOX Live like it says. Very unprofessional if they have.
Sony fanboy's writing that. :p

Well, can I at least get a link to where this fanboy wrote it? I mean.. Sharp, truthfully. Was this something you wrote just to rile us up? ;)

The kid got it from somewhere or just made it up. Sorry i did not specify from where i got, i just wanted to see your reaction from this.....Oooops.... :)

Sony have recently sent out out questionaires to gamers regarding their online gaming habits, what types of game they play, whether they would pay per game to go online, or have a service similar to xbox live.
At present I dont see Sony coming up with a Live killer which integrates everything so well as we presently see on the 360 and original xbox.
Everything on Live at present, bar the COD2 fiasco, is what most gamers have been wanting so they are going to have to really push the bar to top it.

That's a fake. Ditto.
However, I do hope that the PS3 comes with a service similar to Xbox Live.

I dont because I am not going near the PS3. XBOX LIVE is solid and I dont think it will be beaten. Nice one for owning up SHARP but try an not do that in future(Y)

I was wondering if Sony copies so much stuff from Microsoft's Xbox Live, cant Microsoft sue them? Just wondering.....

Nope. Matchmaking and a unified service don't count as intellectual property or anything similar.
