Well it looks like I'll have a PS3 fairly soon (tomorrow in fact). My dad has seen the adverts for LBP and seems to like the idea of adding to his recent and expensive Sony purchase (46W4500, RHTG600, and Bluray Media centre PC)

And its not my problem if he gets bored of it in a month or so and it moves in with me. Should be picking up the bundle from Argos tomorrow 80GB + LBP + Motorstorm PR + Resistance 2 for £287 which is better than the Blockbuster deal I think. Need some extra controllers though, from what I can see the double pack for £40 from GAME or Gamestation seems the best option? Or are there any better options, preowned maybe? High street only though, need them tomorrow.

Oh yeah, just to clarify, does the PS3 come with or without a HDMI cable?

It comes without a HDMI cable, dont be fooled into paying over the odds for one. Its a digital connection so a cheap one is generally as good as an expensive one.

There are some decent games on it, but you will be frustrated at the installs and constant firmware updates.

I paid around £2 for my HDMI cable from ebuyer inc delivery.

I bought my 80gb PS3 from Argos with no games for £300.

Argos suck.

Yeah moved back for a bit.

And yeah scratch tomorrow, we just went and picked it up, PS3, the 3 game, and an extra pad for £322. Not bad at all. Got a spare HDMI kicking about anyway. Some ----ing kid was trying to tell me about HDMI cables when we're were getting the TV, I nearly ----ing hit him, I ----ing worked in a TV store selling high end equipment so stop giving me your sales bull----, ----. A £5 one will work just aswell as a £50 one, your only gonna see a difference if you have a monster setup and using some bad ass QED cables. /Rant.

But yeah, just had a quick split screen on Motorstorm, was all right, didnt look amazing but it was split screen so Ill reserve judgment until later.

Motorstorm 2 isnt really that good looking, best graphics I have seen are Drakes Fortune.

Welcome to PS3 land, sounds like you got yourself a good deal there. HDMI is necessary if you are connecting it up to a large HD Tele, any other connection will not do it justice.

2nd Drakes, good game, both visually and the game itself.

Motorstorm 2 can be good visually but not all levels are stunning. Split screen and multiplayer does reduce the graphic quality a fair bit.

Recommend the pixel junk games on PSN and of course WipeoutHD. Personally I wouldnt waste any time on Home, but that's my opinion.

Another vote for Wipeout HD. I love SuperStardust HD on the PS Store, old skool shooting action with so much going on at the one time it will burn your retina's.

About those update, forgot to say I had 2 in 20 mins, stupid really. Setup the PS3, stuck Motorstorm in, said I had to update, fair enough, prob been on the shelves for a while so it updated the PS3 and onto Motorstorm I was. After playing it for 15 mins or so I thought I'd check out the PSN Store, select it and what does it say? I need another update. WTF? I just updated the PS3, why do I need to do it again. I can only think it didnt grab the full update and grabbed an earlier one? I dunno, I just can see I will love it....

Everytime I turn mine on it wants to update something. It can be a real pain if you just want a quick blast of something.

Sounds like one was for the console, the other for the game itself based on the recent update you installed. :s

Gotta love it, just don't install Home if lots of loading/installing bothers you.

I thought that, but from what I saw about what it was downloading and the license agreement it seemed to be the PS3. It said I had 2.43 or something. Prob game update though.
