Do you like or dislike the New Xbox Experience?

Gamers around the world have had access to the new dash from today, so what do you think of it?

Love it, big improvement, makes the xbox feel like new again. Much slicker and no more freezing when I push the guide button :D

Love it.
It's so fast when u maneuver through everything. Like the odd occasion that you press the xbox guide button by mistake, and it took forever to get it off. Now it just takes 1-2 seconds tops.

i hate it the stupid avatars and genrally hate the dash board on the other hand i do like the replacment for the guide blades and the group chat

I love it, its a good template that will allow them to evolve over time. Loving the installs really speeds up some games. Avatars are a bit crappy just now but I think with a bit of tweaking you could come up with something good. Not had a proper play yet, but what I have seen so far has been great.

I have mixed feelings about this.
The avatar thing is kind of pointless fun, but will be slated for its likeness to Wii Miis.
I don't like the dash with all the news and options shown as pictures - it looks quite crowded and like the Ipod when you flick through the albums.
I do like the blades when you press the middle button, much more responsive and less clunky than on the old one.
Still reserving final judgement for when I get around to trying it out a bit more.

i love it, its faster than the old one and looks miles better.

The new themes put different buildings by your friends and i like the way it shows who is in a party like that.

The look is much better, i like the itunes rip off.

Havent installed a game or tried half the stuff yet so it'll only get better. Oh, and my avatar looks cool!

Love - Smooth, sleek, sexy. more modern, yet fun at the same time, love the fact like 10 people can be in private chat at the same time. At the same time slightly childish 8/10

Everyone I know before the update were all pissed at the avatars "it's too much like Mii's!" "----ing ---- feature, don't want!" etc etc

Now, after the update, everyone of them spends ages customising the avatars, getting good poses for the gamerpics, changing clothing. Just about everything you can do with them, they are doing. (I waited in a Halo 3 lobby for 20 minutes for the ultimate PS3 fanboy to change his avatar's T-Shirt and make the stubble match his own to make it more like him. (This was after a previous 30 minutes of ----ing about with it "I'll do it once, then I'll leave the ----ing thing"... my ass))

Anyone else find this?

The 8-man private chat has ruined clan matches. Not even purely clan matches... just the games themself. Everyone is telling everyone exactly where guys are now on COD/Gears/whatever. Stupid.

Nice ideas, but they should never have let this feature be implemented for DURING games. Should have been Dashboard-specific.

Most of the stuff is really cool, but this has ----ed me off big time.

I thought that people would use the party chat system for exactly that to be honest. No more talking to just yourself or your dead team mates anymore, you can talk to them all, dead or alive!

So far I like the NXE and the changes that come with it. Not a fan of the avatars personally, although for younger gamers they could be fun. I wasn't amused that I couldn't download certain demos earlier though. I guess it was because their servers are taking a hammering with people downloading the NXE.

It's weird having to get used to it all over again though. Some options are in different places and I'll just have to get used to going to where they are now instead of where they were before. All in all it's a good job, well done Microsoft! Plus I got my "refurbished console" back today, I hope that stands the test of time.

Overall, i like it. it has some nice improved features, like you can now tell wich game friends are inviting you to, and you got 8 player groupchat. the new look takes some getting used to but its not that bad, and the avatars make a nice distraction when youre bored at best.

I like it. You should be ableto customise the Dashboard though. Choose to hide certain options, like all the Spotlight stuff, and the other "blade" which is exactly the same.

They make it feel cluttered.

Much better, huge improvement in terms of both look and feel. Looks a lot more professional and next gen to boot

Hard drive install has really made a difference for me. The Fable 2 disk was really really noisy, Gears wasn't much better. I'm a relative noob to the Xbox so the learning curve shouldn't be too hard. Seems faster and more responsive to me.

Time will tell.

The thing with Gears though, is most of the time people know where each other are anyway. It's more the ACTUAL killing that's the tough thing to do.

So I'd say it still affects COD worse, seeing as the whole point in S&D is to be stealthy and be watching the base or whatever. What's the point in everyone being able to snitch on you?

It'll really ---- up the next Ghost Recon as well, so hopefully they can get something sorted out by then, or I might cry. :D

Remember where they advertised all the community games : and i don't mean arcade games, i mean the community ones, such sa 1 v 100 LIVE- and Big Brother Live.

Also i know that the first community game is hosted by some gaming website, but they said look on the Events Channel :S

You can't see the other teams player cams on GRAW though innit, so it might not ruin it.

Nah, but it's the same problem as COD, in that once you're dead in those games, you're not supposed to be able to communicate.

Dead should mean you're dead, totally removed from the action. Dead shouldn't mean you're inactive as far as playing goes, but can still tell other people where you got shot from, or that you've seen someone while spectating that they might have missed.

Either way, with the pros' and the cons', The group chat wins it for me, it's amazing. I've had 8 people in 2 different games and 1 on dashboard before, it's amazingly confusing but also enjoyable, lol.

One of the best examples was when I was playing halo 4 v 4 with 5/6 people in the chat party, one of my house-mates was giving all the info out to the other people playing whilst watching my screen, "2 over by rockets and one behind you on B snipe Cursed" etc. . . :p It was actually really helpful, whilst the other was just in dashboard browsing the web whilst talking to us giving us ---- :p hehe, I love it :D

The whole new interface gives it a fresher feel and a sort of vibrancy.

With the whole, once yer dead yer dead, and you shouldn't be able to talk to people, It's fair IMO because everyone can do it, it aint restricted to certain people and certain parties, it makes the games more strategical TBH IMO :D which is good :)

I had to read that a couple of times to get what you were saying as I originally thought that he was playing in the same game anyway. But man, that's ----ing awesome. A fifth person, spectating that can give info to all your team mates as you are just focussing on your ---- is immense.

personally im not greatly bothered by it.
the avatars could be fun.
if i was 8
and im not.
and its just a ball ache trying to find where theve hidden all the things i want. (appear offline, downloads in progress,choose to sign in on startup, etc)
so in my opinion its slightly worse just cos now i cant find anything.
plus going into game lobbys i find a lot of people are in partys so im stuck in rooms talking to myself. now thats usefull

NXE is quality.
Installing to the HDD is worth making a fuss about on its own.

You're right in that neither team will really have an advantage... BUT, my point wasn't that it makes it unfair towards any particular team. I'm trying to say it kinda spoils the game a little bit, when people are playing the way they shouldn't be. If the developers wanted to allow players to communicate once they're eliminated, they would have allowed it in the game a long time ago.

Love the new dashboard and stuff. I slagged it when they announced it but i was really shocked at how boss it was. Not had chance to give group chat a go yet but it defo has potential, apart from cheaters obviously. But still (Y)

Best thing about it for me is the Game Installs. What a difference it makes without the constant whirr of the DVD Drive.

Only the thing the install process is missing is something to do while it loads.

Why cant we have a old skool shooter to play like when Ridge Racer was loading on the PS1. Either that or an online manual for the game your are playing.

I don't know. I kind of like it so far. As said before it's gonig to take some getting used to. But I've never played COD before so I wouldn't know about all that. I'm waiting to get the gold account just to play online. Has any one played the new MK? Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? Or the new NFS Undercover?

I dont think MS is giving them much bandwidth. I managed to nab one, by using the autodownloader when the Xbox is powered off.

It was mediocre for me didn't bring in something exiting besides the group party chats but that in hand eliminated most game conversations / meeting new people. All in hand it gave a new skin, some ripped off avatars that people only used the first time they got them, and thats about it.

I give it a 7/10 just for the little updates here and there.
