Really good article on comparisons of games running off the DVD and games installed to HDD with the NXE.

I am looking forward to this feature. I can see it shaving a few seconds off load times. Its a shame that MS wont let Devs use the drive as a caching source, it would solve the texture pop in you see in games like FarCry2 and Mass Effect.

Interesting, i like the idea of being able to install the games to a HDD.
But i probably won't take part in it, a few less seconds of loading doesn't really phase me.
And people are happy about it because it will not make the sound of it reading a disk, but to be honest, i've grown accustomed to it and i find it relaxing (Y)

The few games I installed did load quicker, FIFA was very noticable, I've got Gears 2 on there right now but haven't tried it with just the disk so cant really compare.

I installed Halo 3 earlier and it's beast, Xbox runs so quiet and I no longer get DRE's. The maps don't have to get cached anymore from the disc and overall it's just ----ing awesome.
I like the features of this update, but it kind of sucks atm not really being able to private chat because it lags when you're talking to someone without NXE. In games it's fine though.
I need a bigger HDD now I think, 20gb is nothing when it's really 13gb after all that system ---- they put on it, add Halo 3 which was roughly 7gb alltogether with the maps included and I have 6gb left.

And what is all that system crap anyway? It cant be the dash, or anything essential since you can run an arcade with a 512 mem card with the NXE. Obviously updates can take up a bit, and the HDD is only around 18.9ish GB anyway but still. Stupid MS.

i'm more interested in seeing how the install feature will affect fallout 3, since you're faced with a lot of loading in that game, everytime you enter a house or do some fast-travel.
