View Full Version : Invited to the NXE Preview

I've had an email off MS today saying that the NXE will be available to me at 11am PST (7PM GMT to us) and I was wondering if I should avoid it for the following reasons:

When I registered for the preview progam, my Xbox was actually getting fixed and now I have a refurbished unit with a different Console ID. Will MS automatically ban me from live if I download the NXE to my refurbished unit because the IDs don't match?

Also, the Gamer Tag I used to also register for the program is now unused, I've gone back to "just Jutsu". So with my Xbox having a different Console ID and myself using a different Gamer Tag would it really matter to them?

Finally, to those that are in the program, by what method do they send the NXE to you? Do you receive an additional email with a redeem code or is it something that automatically happens when you sign in with your account to XBL?

It automatically happens, but I doubt it will pop up for you since neither your gamertag or console ID is in use.

You can email them to tell them your console ID has changed and that your using a different gamertag, I thought I got an email about it, or read it somewhere.

I still have the profile on my xbox, it's gone back to a silver now but I could log on with it, come 7pm, if it hasn't happened I'll email them.

Yeah, if you login with it on that new xbox then it will disable xbox live if you download it.

S'all good, on the connect site there's an additional survey I found that lets you change the console number in the event of an hardware failure, which I did.

So now I should be good to go, 1 more question though... can any account use the NXE preview on that Xbox? I imagine so as it just replaces the dash yeah?

Yeah I think so, havent tried another account but yeah it just replaces the dash so there shouldn't be any problems with it, only an unofficial console would be banned from live, not an account.

Anyone with the NXE Preview answer this for me please. Can you have more than one game copied and playable from the HDD? I have been thinking of getting a 60 or 120 gig hdd and want to know if I can have more games installed and playable.

Haven't tried myself since I dont have enough spare room on my 20GB. It'd be stupendiously stupid if you couldn't.

Yes, you can install more than one game. I installed WAW and deleted it cos it didn't seem to improve anything. FIFA however is a lot better. They're both around 6GB in size and took about 8/10 mins to install.

You can however most installs are 6gb and I have a 20gb. I'm swapping for 60gb today because I would like to use the install feature rather than not use it.

I would look at upgrading to 120gb if you can also.

I'm considering getting a 60GB, it's just nice to know it's on your HD and you don't have a jet in your room.

ill look forward to installing at least one game, ill have the one i play the most installed and play the others off disks. Id rather leave space for demos and that.

Has everyone got the update now, i guess ill get it when i get home. I like it, looks really crisp, a bit like itunes. Should be great on my big tele

I wasn't a fan at first, but it's great now i've got into.

Party chat has already come in extremely useful - how did we manage without it?!

There should be more clothes and stuff for the Avatar, that's a bit disappointing, I imagine you'll be able to buy more in time from the Marketplace, which I certainly WON'T be doing.

I wasn't a fan at first, but it's great now i've got into.
Same for my brother, hated it when he saw it online, then played around with it on my box for a few days and is really liking it now.

Saw a new thing I haven't seen before on it aswell. In the spotlight section a trailer was playing in its own little square, quite cool.

But where the hell have the NAT settings gone under network settings? Unless it only shows up when your NAT is moderate/strict it ain't there! Hope it hasn't been omitted, I'd like to know if I'm gonna have connection issues.

I've noticed that, I went to check the NAT settings to see if that was what was causing all the GOW2 problems, and there was nothing there. No detailed breakdown like there normally is.

I installed C&C Red Alert 3 to my HD and it is a hell of alot quieter
I was so surprised
Loading times aren't vastly improved
but it's so so so quiet

I'm gonna be changing my 20GB hard drive for the 60GB one now with a 256MB memory card due to me wanting to now install games onto the hard drive, my only query is, how do i transfer games that are larger than 256MB (due to downloads like guitar hero) will i just not be able to transfer them altogether or can i move them in sections i.e game first then downloads? Will this screw up my game saves? Or will the system recognise my gamertag and let me re-download them?

Forget it. It's working now. A simple reset did the job.

Basically it shows how connectible you are to others. If you've ever not been able to accept party/chat invites etc, this is the culprit.

There are 3 different NAT types;

Your 360: - Connectability with other 360's:
Strict - Will only connect to Open NAT
Moderate - Can connect to Moderate and Open NAT
Open - Able to connect with all 3 NAT

If you find yourself on a Strict/Moderate NAT setting, it is possible to change it by forwarding the necessary ports to your 360.
