Ok didn't wanna talk on live as cba to type on that gay keyboard.
Basically despite it fixing the RROD. It Voids warranty as you take console apart. It requires some knowledge of electronics. Patience, and carefulness, or you screw your console. Also its only a temporary fix. There is no definitive fix for RROD. So your just better sending it to MS.
I know this as i know people who do it, i know people who had it done, and also the sites i go on.

I managed to successfully pull this off after an hour of so of full concentration though used a totally different tool kit. I seriously don't recommend it as despite me fixing the problem, the same problems still occured (bear in mind this was before Microsoft announced the extended warranty).
Send it to Microsoft or try and get a replacement at the store where you bought it. Leave it to the professionals!

Being creative is making a hand made card for you grans birthday, not fannying around inside a piece of electronic equipment with no electronics knowledge.
I have PCB assembly and soldering experience but would never attempt to fix a 360 myself.

Its so simple a child could do it, its just moving the heatsink a bit and adding some arctic silver, no soldering or anything like that.

I'm guessing this is just a bit of basic computer hardware installation so..
If you have tinkered with computers before/made your own. You should be fine. But for all the trouble, unless you are dead set (badumtssh) on doing this, just give it MS.
Though, I am guessing you are thinking about this in lieu of Gears2?
