Metal Gear Solid 4

Who here is excited for what has been put into a Game of the Year rankings and has become the Sony mascot of the Playstation 3. By looking at the trailers this game looks very impressive. Sadly the graphics are alot better than the Xbox 360's but this is pre-rendered so hopefully we will see two more even consoles.

But basically your the same Solid Snake as you always were, except much older. Snake has become old, and yes he is kind of sick. As you see him walking down the street (seeing Do-Wah-Diddy-Diddy-Dong-Diddy-Do :p ) he begins to cough, sadly starting to wither away even though we all doubt this will be the last MGS game. So while your following snake you see a new addition to MGS4. The Solid Eye System, which shows objectives, enemies and is kinda like a much more advanced compass.

The game has been extremly hyped up by the Sony and Playstation fanboys alike, kind of like what most of us here are doing with halo 3.

Yeah I agree, raidan wasn't the best for Metal Gear Solid. Snake is their guy and always will be. I love the game with snake and hate it without him (hence why I rented Metal Gear Solid 2 and didn't buy). Hopefully these new additions to him will make the game even better. The original was the best game on the PSone and hopefully this one will be the best on the PS3 (I hope so anyway).

Played MGS Solid 1, 2 and 3. Didn't like the third one loved the rest. They should have renamed that one Metal Gear Soiled 3 because it was shi te (controls were rubbish really). And now they are making one for the PS3 whoopee doo (in sarcastic voice). They have an older Snake (almost geriatric) and a new storyline which will make as much sense as a japanese gameshow. It will have to be something truly remarkable for me to even think about looking at this one.

Well you should, have you seen the trailers and previews for this game. Solid Snakes close ups look too great to be true, and the Solid Eye System looks awesome (better then the one that appears in the Metal Gear Acid games on the PSP). If your denying the game just because it is Sony's mascot and best game than that is just plain dumb. Even Sony fanboys love Halo and they won't deny just because it is the best game the Xbox has produced.

Are those close-ups in-game? Most trailers have a tendency of, well. Not addressing that fact.

Well Sony has announced these were pre rendered trailers of the game, but will be compatitble with the Playstation 3. Even though that will be hard to believe because if you have seen the Xbox 360 pre renderings, like the Call of Duty 2 and Fight Night Round 3 commercials, they look almost on par with what the Playstation 3 showcased. Maybe the Playstation 3 can perform what Sony has stated (and showed) what it could process. I think though that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the best looking game ever seen for a shooter. I hope so, because besides Halo 3 this is my most anticipated title for 2006.

I disagree I think Gears of War looks better not to mention the fact that its actualy playable and not some pre-renderd "we hope it looks like this" crap.

Gears of War looks like a great game but Metal Gear Solid just has a great track record both on consoles and more recently on portables. I can't see this game being a stinker at all.

Never said it was going to suck, I was just giving my opinion about you saying that it could be the Best looking shooter ever even though Real Time Gears of War looks better then Pre-renderd MGS4.

There's Devs that have supposedly seen actual PS3 footage of MGS4 and Killzone.

When asked if they looked like the pre-rendered trailers of Killzone the Devs said 'hell no' and MGS4 trailers they said 'kinda...just a lot rougher'. Also they had framerate issues, not hitting 60 and nowhere near the '120 FPS for every game' Sony assured everyone the PS3 would have! lol

120 FPS is pointless in a console anyways. Televisions just don't work that way.

This is just another confusing, technically unsound number Sony likes to throw out. Almost like 1080p, except slightly more ignorant.

Looks like this is the end for Snake, and someone else will replace him. The most logical replacement would be Raiden since he has suddenly become cool after people saw the MGS4 scenes of him. There is also the possibility that there will be a plot twist and it turns out Solid Snake was cloned again so you play as another clone. Anything can happen in Hideo Kojima's world.

That's the most common pic of him, he does look pretty cool right there, in the trailer he was busting up loads of those walking mech things whilst wearing high heels.

I hope this comes for the 360, im setting my expectations abit high but ohh well, There a vid of raiden on Youtube and TBH he looks Pretty bad-ass IMO.

Don't bother with the images, watch the video of Raiden kicking the mech's butts and you will see why people like Metal Gear cutscenes so much. As for MGS4 appearing on the 360, it's not as insane as it sounds. Let's not forget that Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance was released on the Xbox, and Konami do keep their franchise on the PlayStation consoles the majority of the time it's not uncommon for them to switch to another platform; especially when all the other developers are doing it to Sony right now. Keep in mind the Metal Gear franchise started on Nintendo and they later switched it to Sony so now that Sony are getting so much negative feedback Konami may decide it's a good time to jump on the 360 bandwagon.

i must say, the game looks great, but best looking game on console for 2007, i doubt it. i mean, there is halo 3 to consider, bioshock, lost oddesy, mass effect, alan wake and a few more. but it will probably be in amongst one of the best loking games of 2007 and could probably be a reason for me to buy a ps3.

as for gears of war looking better, well, i can not agree with that. gears does look amazing and is by far the best looking game i have ever seen and that has actually been released into the market. but i am sure that will be over taken soon, by most fo the games i named above.

Metal Gear Solid games are like Marmite. A lot of folks simply dont like the drawn out radio conversations and cut scenes. However those that do like the game feel that the added depth the convos and scenes provide makes for a better game.

Kojima has really explored the interactive movie element of gaming and has succeeded imo.

EH?? anyhow MGs is looking awesome, I can't wait to play it, sadly for Xbox owners I don't think that it will come to the 360, could be wrong though. I would persoannly like to be able to play as Raiden,he is pretty cool.

Raiden wont be playing in this title, Mr. Kojima has already stated that ' we wont make the same mistake twice ' they've learned the lesson, the western world doesn't like Raiden where Japanese gamers love him.

This is the main reason I'm buying a PS3 i'll only buy a PS3 when MGS4 launches. I'm the biggest MGS fan ever hehe
