yep so my xbox has officially borked, I was jamming on guitar hero 3 and it spat the disk out and showed up 2 red light. I quickly turned it off and pulled, to it still showing 2 red lights (apparently means it overheated). So i've left it and now the disk drive won't open or close, nothing zippo :(

TBH i'm not that angry seeing as it has lasted more or less 2 years from when I bought it :)

Taking it back to game station with my mates receipt to get a new one tomorrow :)

Anyone else had a problem like this?

Nope I must be one of the lucky ones, I have had four previously all continue to work perfectly. I had two launch consoles, one is used daily, one was sold to a friend and its been solid. I had a core for the bedroom, sold that to my bro and he hasn had any probs. I bought an HDMI (falcon chipset) premium to replace the core and thats never had a problem either.

Hope you get it sorted quickly. Even if you are scamming a retailer.

Same as bingo on the defective 360 front but two people I know had hardware failure and the red rings of death just this week. They are gutted since they will miss out on playing GTAIV on release.

I dont think you can take it back with a different receipt because the serial number is usually written on the receipt.

lol, we have 7 Xbox 360's in the house and only 5 people, we didn't get them all/them fixed by paying for them or playing by the rules ;)

Neither gamestation or game check the receipts for serial number they simply look at the reciept, see xbox 360 premium (wether it be new [HDMI] or old) and give you a new one. We've done it numerous amounts of times in the house and have done it a fook ton with friends as well :P And TBH I don't think the staff would care even if they did notice a difference, they're nice people and would probably just claim negligence if anything arose from the skulduggery :p

The Xboxes seem to fail on big releases...Halo 3, GTA IV, I wonder if MS are sending bugs on the xboxes to make sure there isn't a massive boom on their servers when GTA comes out...

Most likely that there's far more people playing then and those people are much more likely to be annoyed enough to post about it online too. :)

Take it to another branch? Also wait for the busiest periods and do it, Staff will be rushing about and less likely to be check things through.

the problem I didn't notices is that the reciept was used recently for another trade in (similar to what i'm doing) so it states my xbox is from febuary this year, and mine doesn't have a HDMI cable on it seeing as it's a launch model :( So i'm gonna have to get a really dumb person, wonder if any women work at game station?

I just got my Xbox 360 and I hope mine doesn't ever get the RROD.
It would make me sad.
I use my 360 everyday so should I get a cooler?
Like a fan for my 360?

As long as theres plenty of space around by it you should be fine :D

Well I think there is some pretty good space all around it so I'll stay without a cooler for now.

The coolers actually draw more power than the system is designed for and can cause other faults. Best to avoid.
