ShopTo Games Check Them!

I urge anyone who buys games like myself from ShopTo.com to check the games themselves to see if they are UK ones. I say this as recently I tried to trade in at GAME and Gamestation unsuccessfully Bully Scholarship Edition (360) and WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 (PS3). Reason being they are both non UK copies. On the Bully one it quite clearly says on the back cover "Not for supply in the UK" and the WWE SD Vs Raw 08 has the Finnish national flag on the back.

I have sent ShopTo my disgruntled email and I am currently awaiting a response. It's not the money issue that much it's the fact that on the Bully one it quite clearly states it's not for UK supply (although it works) yet they supplied it to me anyway even though they supply a UK version which is just stupid. Now I'm stuck with 2 games that I won't play anymore unless I trade them online or elsewhere.

Sorry D...they have used EU games like that for a while now! or Not for Sale in UK!...I know what you mean though, its wrong when you can't trade them in.

I have heard Blockbusters take them in....but that could have been someone lying on a forum - but why would he/she.

I use GAME for online only really....yes you can get great deals on shopto - but on average you only save a few quid and GAME points make up for that.

I use Shopto all the time and have never had a non UK copy sent to me. You really cant beat the prices and delivery so although you have been inconvenienced when trading them in you probably got a bargain initially.

Aye but I'm awaiting their infinite wisdom response as to why they'd supply me with an Pal EU version knowing my address is in the bloody UK so in theory a UK copy makes perfect sense. They don't even sell WWE SD Vs Raw 08 anymore for me to check what that used to state.

I find GAME quite expensive if I'm honest I mean £49.99 for some PS3 titles is a rip off especially when they are around £30 to £40 online. I know I know all that middleman cut out nonsense and all but £50 is excessive for a normal retail copy.

EDIT - I'll still use them I just wanted to make this issue known as others may have games they think are UK ones but aren't. It should say on the box art or the design will vary accordingly.

I had this with Transformers. CEX took it but i didnt get the money a UK copy would have been worth.

GAME online are always £10 cheaper though -instore they are a rip off. Blockbusters are good I got Dark Sector new/sealed for £34.99 (instore)

Hi Dcontrol, The "not for re-sale in the UK" line is a guideline by the manufacturer. We do try to make this as clear as possible on the website that it may be a UK or European version by stating this in the region and also writing "PAL EU Version" in the item description. Regards, ShopTo Support

The reason is EU games don't have to go through the BBFC rating system. The EU games are exactly the same, just they aren't for sale in UK due to this.

Put them on flebay D!....you'll get prob more cash anyhoo's

Ah well I did get another response from ShopTo saying that in the last email it was a typo on their behalf and that they are aware of what is on the box cover and that they are allowed to import this by following the european import laws.

Aye I've sold Bully now already to Dvx, it's on it's way to you matey!

b) you know someone who would buy them off you

Not had this problem with them yet... but I didn't like their attitude when they screwed up one of my orders in the past.

Shopto are cheap and decent usually at posting, but as stated I had a EU version of GHIII. Thankfully I rarely sell my games on to shops, if I do they go on Ebay or forums so that's no issue.

I'm not fussed where its orgins are as long as it is a PAL copy and saves me some dosh from the RRP!
