View Full Version : GAME vs Gamestation vs CEX - Trade in prices
I've not done this in a long while, since back in my uni days where I traded in my PS1 games at CEX round the back of Tottenham Court Road. Looking at my current 360 collection, and the amount of dust some of them are collecting, I am thinking of trading these in for an exchange of a DS Lite for travelling in a few weeks time. So here is the question for those that regularly do this...
What store gives you the best trade in price for your games out of GAME, Gamestation and CEX, all three are in my local town so im thinking of popping in tomorrow and offloading my tat to them.
So what have you found with these places when it comes to trade in prices?
How about this...?
I bought a DSlite about a month ago and have only used it once.
If you're interested, I'll trade a few of your 360 games for a DSlite?
What 360 games do you have?
Is it black?...
As for the games, i'll start low and build up...

Usually Indie stores bring the best prices
I don't know why, maybe they're willing to pay quite a lot for stock
the bigger the store, like GAME etc, the less they're willing to give you for them as they get a lot of stock on a regular basis
But out of those you've listed, gamestation is the best in my experience

You won't get much for them Mant, Gamestation base there Trade in value of games on how long the title has been out. for example PGR3, GRAW and Table Tennis you would probably only get £2 for each of them because they sell them at £7.99 because of the age of the game.
At most expect £30-£35 for that list, where your making your money is on GRAW2 and RSV.
Just incase your wondering how i would know, i used to work in gamestation and yeah gamestation are better value for trade in than game.

They didn't accept my Need for Speed Most Wanted, I was expecting that as I got it off ebay already slightly scratched, but it was worth a shot :).
It seems you are really screwed for any games with a sequal available, seen here with PGR and GRAW.

Ooph. This is why I barely ever trade games in anymore. Tbh, you're better off making friends with "the guy on the market" I used to know our local "guy" and he gave me some good prices. Last week I took to the shops to see how much I would get for Assassins Creed.
GAME: £13
Gamestation: £14
In the end i ended up giving it to GAME, because they didn't let me sell it to them at GameStation. Because I was "under 15". WTF?! I can't relinquish posession of something that i'm not meant to have? That's ludicrous.
Anyway, GAME have more selection (Y)
:D
PS: Mant, If you still got NFS:MW would you give/flog that cheaply to me - I wanna GamerScore. :D

Fincheyboy, not wanting to make you sick but i recently sold my assasins creed on playtrade for £35 (Y) I wasnt really enjoying the game so i put in on there to see if anyone would pay that much, and someone did :p

in-store credit, would have been worse in cash i'm guessing.

Maybe, ill let you know if I do.

I don't think i'll be trading in store again after this. I don't have the time at the moment to do them all on ebay, else I would have done.
Can't believe GS was trying to flog me a pre-owned DS for £89! :| Couldn't help but laugh at the guy when he said that.

Yeah, My mate sold it like a week after christmas for around that. but apparently the ex-christmas gifts that people have been taking to trade in (basically the time it takes to realise that AC has next to no replay value) have flooded all the stops..thus worth gone down.
I'm not that bothered, it was a present :P
Got some decent games with the money for PC :D
:D
Yes it is black, doesn't seem to matter now though :P
