...just wondering what you thought about the new laws proposed affecting illegal downloads of music - the 3 strike rule.

It is in there - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7240234.stm

We have all broken copyright in one way or another whether we intended to or not. But to me this just seems stupid. We are being ridiculously and UNFAIRLY overcharged on iTunes so surely that matter should be sorted out before companies start crying at a few bob out of pocket. Not that I condone illegal downloading;) but ISPs will therefore have to monitor every bit of information and store it at huge industry costs affecting us again.

I don't know really but get a move on ...you know... before this legisalation is brought in.

Your thoughts

I saw this and thought "I'm going to be skint by 2009". I don't download much but I like to have my favourite song in my collection which changes a bit...

We might be overcharged on itunes but a single in the shops cost around £2

yeah but thats cos of all the apckaging and the hard copy. iTunes is so much mroe expensive for UK than anywhere else in europe its ridiculous! :@ watchdogs are only just starting to act of rip-off phone call prices abroad, it'll be years before they force companies to stop over charging the US :(

Well although I would love to be able to get Free Games, Movies and Music until the day I meet my maker, it's just not economically viable or even justifiable. So I'm actually for the Law however I just hope it just comes in some form of fair package that shows the problems people have and why they are drawn to it.

For me it's always been the interoperability of the files these sites use in comparison to the restrictive DRM's in place on both Free (BBC iPlayer) and Premium sites (iTunes Music Store) that allow downloads. So that's my main concern, I mean I buy songs on iTunes and doesn't bother me until I realise that in x amount of years maybe iTunes won't be here, maybe support for it may stop, maybe... Maybe Maybe!

That's why I have always supported Illegal File Sharing and probably always will. The best example I could give to summarise that DRM is stupid, that it is against Copyright to copy a DVD you have brought and stick it on your own Hard Drive even if you were to never distribute it or allow it to be copied.
