So yeah, few of us are deep into the UK scene and I didn't realise that. So here's two verses from AKALA, definetly the best UK rapper in my oppinion.

Massive rap fan, Jam and Fleeb can probably vouch for that, but i've never bother with the UK scene, bar Dizzee Rascal.

Listening to the video you provided, I kinda noticed why I haven't bothered, the lyrics mean ---- all.
Its like when writing all there doing is thinking of whatever rhymes with the previous line, wether it has anything to do with the previous subject or not.
Like for example, say his previous line said something like
"I ----ing hate bees", his next line would be
"running through the projects with my hustla steeze"
LOL, ---- example I know, but you get the point, it has nothing to do with what was said before.
And tbh, given enough time, anybody can do that.

*awaits the standard "you do better then" response*

Did you even listen to those lyrics? The example you gave is pretty lame, seeing as he didn't say anything so basic or useless. This verse is also a freestyle on the westwood show. Don't judge him on one freestyle and listen to his album 'Freedom lasso'.

He's also pretty damn smart, research him ;)

What american rappers do you listen too? Seeing as 90% of them are pretty poor, canibus, immortal technique are probably the best.

To be honest that whole style of music never interested me and I'm surprised that people find it enjoyable. Either way I listened to it and I'm still the same, whether he is the best rapper is irrelevant that is crap and seemingly pointless to me. I mean I personally would prefer if people sat down and wrote lyrics that had meaning and sentiment to them instead of like Outlaw says try and rhyme the pointless.

Maybe post a video of his Music from his album you regard so highly, but free styling in my opinion is a waste of time and looks retarded.

Yeah, and this "freestyling" is a load of balls, there is no way on Earth he thought of that on the spot. I can guarantee everything he said there will be wrote down on some notepad of his somewhere, or its just left over material he hasn't used in his songs.

Lupe Fiasco, each and every one of his songs means something, his whole second album "The Cool" is based on a concept derived from one of the songs of of his first album.

Give it a listen.

I believe you recommended Akala and the like to Fleeboi when he was starting out with this rap liking he now randomly has, I then recommended Fiasco, don't think he's listened to Akala since.

Give him a try.

And no, I don't just like him cos he's mainstream, I ----ing hate 50 cent and all that bollocks.

I'll edit in a video when i'm college.

50 pence get away with murder and drug dealing and now he raps about it and gets rich how the ---- does that work

He also has no talent that i can see, mumbling over one of Dre's beats is not talent.

To be honest im going off the hiphop scene. I still listen to a lot of rap music like Jurassic 5, Dilated Peoples and De La Soul but hiphop has gone downhill for me. My two favourite hiphop albums are Dre's 2001 and Wu Tang Forever, both from the 90s. Im not a fan of the new stuff.

Outlaw, you just said his rhymes are really basic and then you say he can't think of that on the spot? I have lupes albums and overall I don't like them but he has some hella sexy songs like 'Hiphop saved my life' and the 'Instermental', I like a few others too.

What album would you recommend Pico?

I'm open minded to all music and already have a little bit UK hiphop on my iPod. I have Kano - beats and bars, roots manuva - run come save me and dizzee rascal - boy in the corner, probably all commercial ---- in your eyes

it's ----, not even singing. Just talking like a retard to some beat that could be made with someones mouth.

Overall I don't enjoy most albums truplaya, but kanos new album is pretty good. It starts off a little rubbish but then there's like 6ish songs which are nice. It's called London Town.

Jehsts albums;
# The Return of the Drifter
# Falling Down

They're pretty good, the first one might be the best.

It depends tru, what kind of rap are you into?

Joe, after reading half your posts around this forum I wouldn't even consider listening to your oppinion, same goes for RBF.

I think you would tbh but you just dont like me dissing your hipidy hop ----e

Truplaya83

I prefer rap music to hiphop if that makes sense. More Jurassic 5 than 50 pence.

And who is Jehsts?

Does all music have to have singing? There are many great songs and artists that dont exactly 'sing' on their songs. Faithless, the Prodigy, the Streets to name but a few. Plus, most hiphop does have singing, or 'a hook' in the chorus.

So, what is your point?

PicoDeath

He also seems to think I can only enjoy one genre, he's a close minded individual in my oppinion and that's why I disregard everything he says.

Jehst is a UK rapper born in kent;

Right guys I've had a read of this thread and just agree to disagree on something. No need whatsoever to start flinging insults at each other just because you have different opinions. So cut it out or the thread may be closed.

EDIT - Thread re-opened and keep it civil and on topic please people.

Sorry, i was out last night, just seen your post today at work. I've put a reminder in my phone to have a look tonight, i'm always open to recommendations. One of my suppliers recommended 2 Many DJs to me last week, i got their complete collection and really liked it. They mix bootlegs and well known tracks together to make really unusual sets.

Plan B is the UK's best all-round, most talented artist. There's no one who can write / tell stories the way he does. He keeps things real and has alot of emotion in his music, but he add's an aspect of comedy in there too. His flow may not be the best out there, but it's not far off. Plus he plays the guitar in his songs, and sings his own choruses. You wont find many rappers as original as him in this country.

Here's a video of Mama (Loves A Crack Head)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByvQ8ExmXq0

If you haven't heard his album 'Who Needs Actions When You've Got Words' then I 100% recommend checking it out. You wont be dissapointed! Then there's his mixtape "Paint it blacker" where he takes old songs (Nirvana etc) and gives them a dark remix, some of them are so clever.

Rap/hiphop remixes or another genre?

Pretty much everything from 80's rap to modern pop songs. A bit off topic i know.

Anway i'll checkout Plan B and Jehst later and let you know what i think.

Down with O.P.P? YEah you know me.

I got an awesome 3 cd pack, it's called history of hiphop.. loads of old school music and newer music(its like 6 years old now).

As for plan B, I have his album and think it's decent. I'll try and find his mixtape.

Does anyone have any terra firma or task force? Hint hint.

Outlaw ur a Lupe Fiasco fan, me too man. The Cool is crazy, I don't really like UK rappers as most of them suck, but yea Akala, Klashnekoff, Dizze, Wiley and Kano are the ones I listen to. As for US, I am not into the gangster rap or the bubblegum music a.k.a SOULJA BOY!!, I like Lupe, Common, Cassidy, Talib Kweli, Mos Def (Blackstar = sicko), Kanye and Chamillionaire(he is very gd lyrically and hes hit mainstream, his mixtapes are off the hook).

Outlaw, in that other thread you qouted "The coolest n*** what", bam, I knew it was Lupe Fiasco, haha

I like Lupe, Common, Cassidy, Talib Kweli, Mos Def (Blackstar = sicko), Kanye and Chamillionaire(he is very gd lyrically and hes hit mainstream, his mixtapes are off the hook).

Common is awesome, his album Be is one of my favourite albums and i just finished listening to Cool Common and Collected mixtape. The song 'Be' is still holds no1 spot on my most played playlist in my iPod.

I took a look at some of the UK rappers recommended as its not a scene i claim to know a lot about. I have dizzee's albums, a roots manuva album and a kano mixtape but i hadnt heard of Akala, Jehst or Plan B. To be honest Akala and Jehst is not my sort of thing, they are talented but not for me. Plan B was a bit better, im downloading his album at home now to check it out, kinda reminds me of Skinnyman.

Yes that does satisfy me and in relation to your next comment, I was generalising but as you can see I am willing try different things before totally ruling them out.

I liked that song, not something I would listen to on a regular basis but it has meaning and thought put into it, unlike the original track you posted.

Well the first video I posted was a freestyle just for radio time, It wasn't made for an album or to be heard 20 times, just once. I agree about that too, it's a little too depressing if you listen to that song a lot.

If there's any sway fans here, a new mixtapes been released called 'The dotted lines'.
