Please can 1 of the players from each 2v2 teams that has registered for the CM 2v2 comeptition please just simply re-list your interest below, all i need is your Team name.

Reason being is because so long has passed since the registration opened and then closed for the event the team feels that the event could fold on its self with the potential high numbers of no-shows.

We now need the teams that are already *registered to list thier Team Name to show they will still play in the competition and then the fixtures will be re-done and posted up. I will also accept if you re-list a mates team who you know will still be playing and have registered already.

This thread will be open until next Monday afternoon [19.11.07] ,then it will be closed and fixtures published by the early evening with all the teams that have re-listed their interest.

Sorry for the hassle and delay of this but it is the only way this competition would work as the way it is at the moment.

*IMPORTANT- Only teams that have already registered for the CM 2v2 competition are eligible to re-list their interest.

Also, just like to add onto the bottom of that i registered to play in this event when it first came to light and I'm looking to still take part in it. But if people don't like the idea of me running the event and playing in it (to which i completely understand) I will drop out or look for a replacement for my partner.

I thought having the majority of teams being randoms and being referred by Cat was a bit much to start with, but it was bearable I suppose.

But now seeing Cat lose all involvement with the tournament, and having some Joe Nobody (no offence) running the tournament is 1 step too far.

It's now a community tournament without "community" in any sense.

For those dropping out due to some "no body" running it, it's sad to hear as you're missing out of some great prizes and miss out on mingling and gaming with new members to the forum, which is part of the main idea these tournaments are started. We cant survive on a handful for regulars here so need to appeal to new members and those guests to take the leap in signing up and getting involved. Give Spin a chance and im sure Cat will be able to vouch for his experience when she returns - after working with him in the first place at matchbox. Using someone with a similar background in arranging the same matches rules and arrangements as Cat does is the best move IMO rather than anyone else that can totally mix up rules, making new ones and generally messing about previous sign-ups who signed up on the current rules etc.


Anyway... if we have too smaller teams we'll open sign-ups again to fill any gaps without taking on too many.

You do realise once this tournament finishes none of the new people will stick around, they're here for the tournament, nothing else. Ok maybe you'll get a few who do but the majority won't. Also it doesn't matter if he's had experience else where, this is a CM tourney and he's done ---- all for CM.

As you can already see though Mant, you can't find 100 posts from the 30+ teams put together. This makes it apparent that none of them intend to be a part of the community. And as Joe said, even less people will stick around after the tournament as ended.

I'm in the process of making that 1v1 tournament anyway, it may not have prizes, but it should be some fun with some of the features we're planning on including.

I didn't enter the 2v2 competition to win the prizes, I wanted a good time with current members as the get-togethers are much less often than they once were, and having seen the ratio of regulars to non regulars, I might as well play team doubles in matchmaking.

I don't doubt Spin's tournament creating skills for a second. It's just that, as I previously stated, it's now a "Console Monster" tournament without the "Monsters".

I'm sure he'll do a great job in organising everything, but the tournament just does not appeal to me anymore.

Ok I'll do my best to answer the points raised,

Point 1: I'm not right for the job because I'm new and haven't ever ran a CM competition before

Again like i have said before i can understand as a regular member you feel that the new guy has no place to be running an event but i can assure you i have ran events just like this on Halo2 for Matchbox360 which were ran the same way just with more numbers (to which i think CM could attached just as many if reg was open longer). Not only am i comfortable with running online events on Halo with this style i also enjoy doing it and take pride in a well ran event. If the only thing you have against me is I'm new then there really is nothing i can do to change that. As people have pointed out many new people on forums sign up then you never see them again but since Cat asked me to enter the 2v2 and i already know a few people here i am planning on staying round as long as your have me.

Point 2: To many new people are in the event so there's no point in playing in it.

Unfortunately your right and its the same any where with online events based sites you go to, i have this argument many times on the MB forums but the truth is its the way the world goes round. After time and with a good reputation people will stay around longer and longer after events. As Mant point out before why not see this as a chance to not only play with the regular CM community but also take on the new guys and meet some of the new faces in the competition.

Point 3: I don't think you should enter spindryer. No offense but It's just not right.

This was from my opening post for the thread and of course i want peoples input on it. The last 4 online events I've ran i have not entered myself purely because its 10x easier to just run an event rather than worry about playing as well. But i was eager to play in this event from the start and still am but i stand by my quote and understand that for many of the CM members that don't know me that you might feel its not right me doing both. I stand by my quote that i'll happily step down ifs that's the case.

Point 4: Are we still using the same rules and Gametypes:

Yes, i have gone through them and the only change i will be making is giving teams 6 days to play and report their matches rather than the 5 it is now. I know that many suggestions have been made for future competitions on Halo 3 and I'm sure who ever takes control of the next one will feature them.

How about having one of the old guy's run the event along side spindryer, this way we can have a new guy and old guy mix, which will make it eaiser for both of the event organizers to keep track of fixtures and results, and also allow for both of them to participate as you will have another person there to run things while you play your game.

i no its not about who runs the event but just means that the old guy's have someone running it aswell, as to who they can go to for info and it might feel like a CM event.

Well, if my memory serves me right, the best of the "Monster" years came while we were having these get-togethers. Random people. regardless of post count, would just show up to these get-togethers, had a laugh and kept coming back.

So while these guys seem like a bunch of random people, why not follow one of U.S's Vietnam mottoes (modified to fit this occasion): beneath every random member, there is a "Monster" waiting to come out.

One more thing: even if you disagree with me, I think we can all agree that some regular members need to be a bit less hostile towards the newer monsters.

Set the fixtures up now - in a sprawled hurried hour or 2, with a limited amount of entrants, with a fixed skill level, and everyone who's entered you already know, so actually playing them won't be a big deal at all, and it might as well be a friendly game, instead of a competitive one.

After a ---- tournament, you can come back here, rant about how you were right because spin did a ---- job but in fact you pressured him into doing it cause we all know how you love a good ----ing rant. Then demand all your future tourney's are to be regular members only, there-by taking away the meaning of tournament, losing members...etc....etc...

Last time I checked you weren't a mod either so you can't tell people whether they can or cannot sign up. As he stated some teams have dropped out so he could fill there spot.

I've let this topic stay open to the fact that, yes we are a forum and we are open for discussions/topics to debate. It's getting silly now and borderline to being closed since I've had reported posts about this thread and I can see why with all the silly needless comments in it. Just because some of you disagree with a persons view that doesn't make them a/an (insert random derogatory insult here) and vice versa. I can have an adult discussion with people without the need to insult them.

So this is the first and final warning. So all of you cut out the nonsense now and any disagreements that I notice that can't be dealt with in a civil manner then I will close the thread for good.

First off I'm back and here, i have a very good reason for being held up today but im back home now and ready to move on.

I had a brief look over the thread and its looking just like how i left it, I'll post back with my comments when i have chance to read the last page but for now i will be working on the fixtures and then send send all fixtures with all the teams that have ' Re-Registered' their interest to Mant for the final ok.

EDIT x2: Fixtures have been done and waiting on a CM decision with if to go ahead with the event or not. Fixtures will be posted up now at 4pm this Tuesday (19.11.07) Sorry for the delay again.
