Wow, been playing too much Halo 3 today and missed all this. So:

Prizes will be announced this weekend.

The tournament will start the weekend after this.

The tournament is open to everyone, I know it's mainly UK, but we've got a US team, a US/Norway team and Jam Man who's in Australia. Each fixture will lastfor 5 days, including a weekend, in which the game has to be played. That way all the time difference can be accounted for.

I will not make any changes to team names now. Remind me again just before sign up closes.

I found something out today that concerns the host.

Host isn't simply obtained by creating the party anymore, it's given to the person with the best connection even in customs.

To find out who it will give host to, go to theater with a couple of people, it will then show who has the "best connection"... this is also flawed, as it's not always right. (ask Gout :p)

In light of this... how will this affect how gametypes are selected by which teams? And what will be done about teams that may never get host?

Yeah, there is no foolproof way of determining host, I've had that many times in the theatre that it would show different people to have the best connection.

The only thing I can really think of is a neutral host, but that doesn't always work either, you'd have to find a reliable/good host and even though my connection is pretty good I'm still not guaranteed host.

One of the big questions still left with Halo3 is "How do u tell who has host when u start a game from the off". Tbh unless you are using bridging programs to tell who's dropping packets of data and who isn't i don't think you are going to be able.

I think its going to have to be a case of get on with it and deal with it, if your not getting host at least its giving it to a better connection which can only be a good thing for everybody.


As long as the Finals or even the Semi-finals are held with a neutral host as has been suggest above then you cant ask for more. Good luck everyone our teams are up for this one (Y).

My concern for host is that it doesn't always give it to the person with the best connection. I think if I got it you'd all be screwed.

I couldn't really give a ---- who it gives it to as long as it's not laggy.

I pointed it out as the rules need to be altered a little in terms of who picks what matches.

Remember also this 2v2, even my ----ty NTL 2meg will give green pings all round with only 4 players in game.

Don't get me wrong i think having host is an advantage but a better team will also win, host or no host. Where it counts is in the semis and finals where both teams are as good as each other and where Host could sway the game. But Cat has said already a neutral host will be in place so i cant see any issues.

Righty, Prizes! Apart from being ill, I wanted to wait till our signup page was complete and announcements were made on the front page, but i'll give you forum peeps (and guest :/) some inside info.

We've had to wait for confirmation from our sponsors of this competition and at the end of last week we've had the final "Go" on them so to announce what is up for the winners...

Hes got a point, I think hes more worried that the event was suggested to be started this weekend (tomorrow) and we yet don't have a clue who we are playing and when. The simple question of 'when' is more than warranted i would say at this point in time until it gets a proper answer other than wait and see.

Now as we all know chances are Cat has been caught up doing things and hasn't had chance yet to get the fixtures out (she did say she was going away for a few days) so that's fair enough, but is Cat doing this on her own? If so she deserves a medal, if not can another staff member give us an ETA of when the Event will start and how many days before the event starts will the fixtures be out.

Please only reply if your helping Cat run the event, there's no point answer the questions knowing as much as i do.

Right, I can't speak for Cat as she's either Ill or busy, but as far as we've left it, we have opened sign-ups exposure on the main site until the end of the week, possibly the end of the weekend. Then it will be up to Cat when we close signups and she drafts up the fixtures.

So as you can tell, yes Cat is arranging this all her self and everyone should give her some credit for taking time out to arrange this for you guys!

You'll hear more on sign-up closure and fixtures when we have them.

Got my double team up to a 41 a while back and slayer to a 41 or so, but I also have another account with a slayer at 45 and it's only a lieutenant so it's only lost aboout 10 games out of 90 or something (muffin the gh3y) :) But as you guys said levels mean fack all in halo 3, I remember in the good old days on halo 2 before everyone started modding it was actually an achievement to get over a 30 in team slayer and other matchmaking games.

It seems that an old level 30 in halo 2 is around the equivalent of a 40 in halo 3, which kinda sucks but meh... what can people do :p

yeah exactly, having a 35 or over was pretty hard to do in Halo 2, its absolutely nothing in 3, i hope they make the skill levels a bit harder, it would be nice if they reset them. but i guess they wont be able to do that, because of peoples exp rank.i had a few games before, and im really not impressed with 3 anymore tbh. i just kinds want cod4 to be out, so i can take my mind of Halo 3.

I havnt seen any cheating in Halo3 as of yet so an 18 Legit is pretty Wack! Im a 31 "legit" in double team but i still havnt found it really hard. I can see a rest of ranks coming soon as people have got high ranks (including myself) far to easily. However the standard of Halo 3 players atm isnt that good. I have played about 150 odd games and only lost about 30 odd. Halo 2 was alot harder than that. Not that I am complaining, maybe i am just better at H3 than H2?

I also think that the "highest skill achieved" should be changed to highest skill atm!

Hello to you all. Just thought id chime in on the discussion as i dont want my post count to be directly associated with how much time i actually spend on CM [a considerable amount while in work at least ;)], so WASSUP YALL!!

Cant wait to get some good games goin' with ma homie Snowy (SUP BOIII), looking forward to it. Nice prizes too BTW Cat, dont think i mentioned that to you yet,. so yeah. Good Job.

And to continue the theme, I have to agree on the levelling in H3. Im not a pro by any standards but i found it fairly easy to get to 40~. I struggled to to a 34 in H2! I like it tho, it makes that perrrrrrfect 50 seem attainable to a good portion of the H3 population. Which is good, especially as there are nice shiny medals to shoot for now.

Anyway, Good luck to all the teams (ive noticed a few GT's that have me worried lol, they doont need luck), play fair and have fun. That is, after all, why we play no?
