View Full Version : Time-Attack Replay bug?

Just looking for confirmation...
I think I've found a bug in Sega Rally for the 360 but would appreciate if anyone else who owns the game can verify this happens also?
When playing time-attack mode, after the race finishes, I select the "x" button to view a replay of my laps.
The game tells me a new save will be created and after a second or two, takes me to a race status screen which has 4 options below the recorded lap-times:
"y" gamer card, "x" view replay, "b" retry and "a" continue.
No matter which button I press, I cannot get back into the game or view a replay.
The D-Pad and "y" button are still responsive because I can move up and down the list of times and view the others gamer card.
My only option at this point is to press the controller's guide button to drop out of the game and back into the dashboard, exiting the game completely.
This has happened to me a number of times now. The first time I shrugged and ignored it but I've since discovered I can replicate this on demand.
Happening to anyone else?

Hmm....
Adding to the intrigue, it appears it's more of a problem than I first suspected.
Regardless of what I do; if I go into time-attack mode, all I can do after a race is exit the game to the dashboard - I just can't find a way back into the game!
I've removed my memory card, I've copied my SR save-games to the memory card, removed it and then deleted my saves from the HDD, I've even reset the Xbox HDD cache. Nothing seems to work!
How am I supposed to improve my times if I can't practice the tracks solo?
Surely I can't be the only one who's noticed this?

That's quite odd and I don't think I ever saw that when I played the game. But then again, I only played it a few hours here and there and exclusively career.
I know of two other people on here who have the game, let's see what they say.

I work for SEGA in the art department, I'll find out about your problem and let you know.

Thanks. I've reported it to Sega Europe but as I only noticed on Saturday, I guess they'll not see my email until Monday. (Assuming they're not already aware?)
It would appear I'm not the only one, after all.

I find it odd it's not been mentioned online before - this sort of thing is normally highly news-worthy!
(Let's face it - this is hardly a minor bug! Having to effectively reboot the game, just because you tried the Time-Attack mode. Had this been Halo 3, it'd be on broadcast news all over by now!)
Apparently, it doesn't get stuck if you're not logged-in to Live! (I'll try this later and post the results.)
I guess it will either be patched or there'll be a recall!

Of course it's not a minor bug if you think about this game, but on the grand scheme of things how important is Sega rally compared to Halo 3? ;)
I have never seen a recall for console games [no idea about PC's], so I'd imagine there will be some official announcement and a patch at any point from now to three weeks.

Point taken.
SEGAs testing crew must've been asleep not to notice this one, though?...

Well, it's a bit surprising how it managed to get past both internal QA and Microsofts certification testing which, considering there hasn't been anything reported by anyone else really, that it's settings specific. Either ingame settings [anything like music can affect it] or console settings, such as video settings.
There are so many variables, it's impossible testing all of those and it seems you were just someone unlucky enough to get it.

I've spoken to the Technical Director at the Racing Studio...
they're working on a patch right now.
So they're on the case :)

I tend to trust people until they let me down.
I'm sure morgan is telling the truth.

I'm sure morgan is telling the truth....On top of which, I've just noticed he has an icon in his game history which would indicate he's recently been playing the unreleased game Virtua Fighter 5.
How's it looking morgan?
I may just trade in my PS3 version for the 360 version when it finally gets released.
(This will, however leave me with only 1 game to play on the PS3 - MotorStorm!)
