Microsoft finally cracks Japan

News just in from the land of the rising sun, Halo 3 was the top selling title in Japan last week :D

05./04. [DS] Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Yami - 46,000 / 389,000
06./--. [PS2] Bleach Blade Battlers 2nd - 31,000 / NEW
07./--. [DS] English Test 2 - 28,000 / NEW
08./--. [PSP] Yugioh Duel Monsters GX - 28,000 / NEW
09./--. [PS3] Oblivion - 27,000 / NEW
10./02. [PSP] Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops+ - 25,000 / 119,000

It wont last but it was nice to see MS having their 1st Number one title in the Japanese marketplace.

Sales will drop away sharply after the first week. I doubt not even Halo 3 will be enough to get the Japs to buy MS lovely console.

The whole Japanese gaming market is stale now. Ninty has flooded the DS market with a lot of dross, quality control is now out the window and you cannot rely the Nintendo Brand as a something of quality.

No wonder Japanese developers like Capcom are more than happy to jump aboard the 360 bandwagon, they know they still have the reputation and ability to make and sell titles to the USA and European markets where there is still huge money to be made.
