xbox live membership help

right here's the situation
i've had live for about two years
and it's always been in my dads credit card
but that card expired
so in may when it came to renewal time
it couldnt because of the credit card not existing
sooo,
they suspended my account,
now the other day i bought a 12 month membership code
because i dont have a credit card to put the billing onto anymore,
so i tried to redeem it in every place i possibly could
but it says that i can't because i have to update my payment options,
so basically
i cant remove th credit card, i dont have a new one to use, and i cant input the code.
anyone know what i should do?
or do i have to make a brand new account?
if so, that really sucks :(

Have you tried doing it through Xbox.com? Click on Manage your Profile and then Redeem Code.

umm i had the same deal my moms card expired so i went to a silver membership but, i got a new xbox and just used a card, i think the credit card is just on the xbox not your account.

I take it you dont have access to a new credit card then?

Do you have an oustanding balance on your acct? (You can check that on xbox.com),.

If the balance is £0.00 I think you can just blag inputting new details, Just click update payment select Mastercard Input 16 digit number beginning with a 5 enter a 3 digit sec num and and expiry date of sometime next year.

Once thats done, click on redeem points and it should work ;)

actually, mate,
i've decided to make a new account,
alot of peopel have been having this problem and there doesnt seem to be a way around it, i dont really care about my gamerscore, i'l just make a list of all my friends and add them if i think them worthy :P

Jam this happend to my mate, he just phoned microsoft(customer support) and they put his account to a silver one then he redemed his code.

well i can't really be bothered, i dont think australia has any call centres based here, and even if they did i still can't understand them.
i'll have to speak to fleeboi about my new GT, it needs to be suitable for future projects.

UPDATE:
today i rang customer care
and they told me that to get my account reinstated i had to pay them $80 (£40)
now i've just bought a $80 12 month subby, so basically i need to pay them $180 to get my account back, so i told them to stuff it, i've lost 11,394 GS and 1500 MS points, all because they are unfairly charging me double the amount just to get my account unsuspended,
total bull poo,
so yeah, looks like im making a new account,

Well Jam Jam don't just sit there tell them it's Bull---- and that you want your account back without paying a penny. I heard you have to pay the rest of your contract with BT if you decide to cancel early but if you argue and argue in the end they'll just not charge you. Someone i know done it.

All you ever have to do with customer support centers is ----- and yell constantly until you get what you want.

- Edit, oh and my American friend has the same problem but got his account back without paying anything.

well to be honest, i dont have time to stay on the phone for hours and hours, and be put on hold every 20 minutes,
i'm really not fussed about losing 1500 Ms points, i never used them,
in fact they've been there since about last december.
i'll just make a new account with the 12 month ive already purchased

You say you have 1,500 points? Change your GT to something else (800 points) then use "just Jam Man" for your new account.
