sorry guys , thought id bring this to your attention.

In a right jab to the collective kidneys of Europe and Canada, Infinity Ward and Activision have confirmed that the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online mulitplayer beta will only be available to US residents. This morning, CVG chatted with publisher Activision when they confirmed the news, but wouldn't elaborate to why the beta was restricted to US Xbox Live members. Though, CVG does mention that they do expect Activision to make an official announcement about the CoD 4 beta sometime today.

If this is true, which we expect it to be, then this will make a bunch of fanboys go mad with rage, because they're being deprived of their CoD 4 beta fun. We're offering this posts' comments to our fellow European and Canadian readers, so they can vent and let out their frustration about this very sad news. We know guys, this really sucks hardcore.

I'm actually thinking the same thing now, I was thinking about getting this along with the million other great games this christmas, I guess I'll save £40.

That's old news, I found out about 2 weeks ago... thought everyone did. And IMO after Cod3 it's not worth £40.

Yeah, sucks that it's for the US only but I won't let it put me off getting the full game if it turns out to be rather special.

Europe always gets shafted anyway, we're all used to it by now heheh

Are people saying that they are not buying it being sarcastic? I hope so... Anywho bit of a slap to EU and Canada but I will still be playing the game?

Well CoD3 was made by another developer and if you have Played Call of Duty 2 on the Xbox 360 you will realise that it was even below standard to the previous title of the series of which Infinity Ward made (the makers of CoD4 btw).

Let's face it, us going "Oh No I'm not going to buy it" is fairly retarded because let's face it most will, although I'm not saying don't not buy it just pointing out the truth of the matter.

Anyway Activision should be ashamed, but in the end what do you expect from a US Company... Might be pointing out that CoD2 sold 1.39 Million Copies in the US/NA compared to 630,000 in the Other (non Japanesse and US Markets)

Taken from http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=298, how accurate that is, is up for you to decide. :P

I rather have a free healthcare system. They can keep their call of duty beta.

To be honest the Halo3 beta made me less likely to buy the full game. So maybe its a good thing.

I wasn't going to buy it for a start. I hated all of the last COD games, the way it's played, etc.

I was going to give the beta a go as the concept for the new one sounds good, but now I won't bother and therefore won't buy the game.

Does that make me retarded? There are plenty of other game coming out at the same time that i want to play.

Well, I was going to base the purchase on the possibility of playing the beta to see just how good this game is. I've never been fussed on World War 2 shooters, so I thought this was a nice break away from the norm. Now I don't even get a chance to play the beta, and with so many other games coming out it's not on the top of my list, the beta could have swayed me though but now I'll just skip it.

edit: lmao, as I was writing my reply cat replied with almost the exact same post. Great minds think alike and all that crap I guess.

First off we all know why you don't play Call of Duty or any other WWI or WWII games, no one wants to lose repeatedly :p

No what I was saying was that simply saying that because you aren't allowed in the Beta so your not buying it is retarded, you however are saying you weren't keen but you were going to give the Beta a spin to make up your mind something you didn't point out first btw.

Which puts a different spin on it, so Meh! lol

I liked Brothers in Arms and some other one on the Xbox where I can't remember the name.

The COD controls, the IMO slow character movement and the fact it's so linear never appealed to me. [Bearing in mind, I have only played 1 properly and got bored of 2 and 3 real quick].

I didnt really like the single player on either COD2 or COD3. Online on COD2 was where the game shone. I devoted so many game hours to that one game and still got my ---- handed to me on occasion. The map design was great and the some of the Clan matches where fookin amazing fun.

I just posted on the COD forums, but there has been no official reply to whether its US only yet.

Hey Everyone;

I wanted to give you an official update on the status of the Beta and most importantly clear up some confusion in the forums.

Later this month, in August, the Public Beta will go live; information on what will be included in the beta, how to participate in the beta, and Intel regarding weapons, maps, and perks you'll be able to use once in the beta will be on an official Beta page which will launch later this week here on Charlieoscardelta.com.

As for who is eligible for the Beta, there was some confusion caused this week stating that the Beta would be US-exclusive, however that statement was premature, because we have not finalized final details on who would be involved in the beta at this point.

In order to get started, and kick off the beta we will begin in the United States, but are looking to go International and currently sorting out those details.

I will continue to keep you everyone informed on updates and new information regarding the beta as it becomes available. Thanks guys.

Courtesy of the Infinity Ward: Community Relations Manager. So its looks like it will start US only but will go International :) Very good news

They should of said it was only going to be exclusive to the people in the US at E3 bit dissapointed, it was not like everyone would have got in the beta anyway so i will just have to wait now until november

Just like to point out an easy way to get into the beta if your in the United Kingdom. Create an American account on your Xbox 360 and the first three Silver Accounts you create you should get a 2 month Gold trail free and then your free to download. It says all you need is a Gold Xbox Live account which is American so I presume it will work.

Just had an email from Charlie Oscar Delta, the beta is initially for the US only. Other countries will be rolled out ASAP. To get in the Beta you need to be able to answer 3 trivia questions on COD. There will be a countdown timer placed on the sign up site soon.

I got that too. Hope they decide to roll it out in the UK :) It looks intriguing. I like some of the features they're putting into the game
