Crackdown wins innovation prize
Crackdown has been a popular title this year
Xbox 360 title Crackdown has won the innovation prize at the Develop Awards, which recognise the work of game developers worldwide. Crackdown has been one of the most celebrated titles of 2007.
It was designed by David Jones, of Real Time Worlds, who helped create Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto.

My personal view is that it wouldn't have shifted half as many copies if it wasn't for the Halo 3 beta but it was a decent enough game for a while overall (I've traded mine in since).

ive traded mine for Forza too, but i knew it would be a good game. With or without the BETA. Of course the BETA helped it sell copies, but it was a great game on its own.

I enjoyed it and even go back to it every now and again, funnily enough i thought the Halo 3 beta was a let down.

I'm glad the Halo 3 beta helped sales, because Crackdown is one of my games of the year. Utterly brilliant fun.
Also, I was interviewed by Realtime Worlds for a job recently, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

the halo 3 beta was the main reason it sold...it was a great game though
I never got around to playing it, the demo or the full retail version. But obviously the beta helped its sales triple.

If the halo 3 beta helped get this into the hands of gamers then I don't mind at all.
Think of all the people who would have missed out on one of the games of the year otherwise!
Good thinking on the part of Realtime Worlds and their awards are richly deserved.
Now gimme that job! heheh

Crackdown wasn't that good, the story sucked. The only thing was co-op and jumping from building to building, other than that it's ----.

oh my god, this game doesnt deserve an inovativity award! yes it's good. but its just a cross between GTA + Mercs!!! shame on the developers awards people...

Crackdown had something many big games lack, FUN in bucketloads! Levelling up your character and maxing out their stats so you could jump from skyscraper to skyscraper was fantastic. The vehicles were brilliant and the weapons were totally standout (especially the firefly). It also had humour in spades and great graphics. The control mechanism was perfect (something GTA still can't get right).
Soz peeps, Crackdown deserves every accolade it gets in my opinion, bring on Crackdown 2!
