xbox 360 problem

my xbox has finally gone. i didnt lose it to the 3 red lights, it just dosnt read the disks any more.
it is about 2 mounths out of its original one year warranty, and i cant claim the 3 year warrenty becouse its not the 3 red lights. i have 3 options:
1. replace the laser inside the xbox (will this fix the problem?) wich is very cheap to do but voids my 3 year warrenty is i get the red lights in the future.

2. find a way to give my xbox the 3 red lights so i can get it replaced under warrenty.

3. pay microsoft £80 to fix it.

Well no it's supposed to cure the red lights problem temporarily. I'd phone up MS and say that it doesn't work like its supposed to therefore it isn't fit for the purpose it was intended for. You want it fixed and you don't want to pay a penny. Its their shoddy faulty console that you paid good money for. Just generally make a fuss and all should go smoothly.

Give it a try and find out! They are giving people with 3 red lights preference though it seems at the moment. They wanted us to report any problems that we are experiencing with our 360 and I'd say yours is a common fault (well I've heard it a fair few times). Try and sound convincing on the phone or just extremely annoyed it may get you somewhere.

The towel method will make the 360 overheat, softening the glue and ----ing the GPU up.

I'd also recommend you do this to get the lights, when you do it, stand the console vertically as it's more effective at disconnecting the GPU from the motherboard.

Headshot, I got the red lights before and after i couldn't read discs. I just got off the phone after speaking to them for about 3 hours trying to get UPS to BRING ME THE LABELS because they were delivered to someone in Bodmin? Well i ----ing live in CORNWALL. WTF.

I also didn't get the red lights but i lied. I have some weird problem with overheating so I'm going to write a note inside saying i got the red lights and now after 1 hour of game play i get a lot of lines covering the screen. All i can say is they better fix it for free or I'll kick up a fuss and they'll cave in(As they do).

I've ran out of it's original warranty too.

ok i have rung them up, they say i have to pay. i oped my xbox up (voiding the warrenty for 3 years) guessing i cant get it replaced for free even if i do get 3 red lights now? lol iam gunna replace the laser for a £10er

Buy a PS3?... Sorry. Naw if you know how to do it I would say replace the laser. Or buy and new one, put the broken one in the box and take it back to the store and say it doesnt work(Y)

I wouldn't shell out that much money on a console, can't believe i spent £280 on the 360. I managed to get MS to ring the courier and get them to come to me with the box and labels.

value for money thow the 360 and 360 elite both are very good.

XBL has made the 360 worth it, but still it's alot of cash for a console.
