Just read the front page of ign.com and they say its all down to the sales of the ps3, isn?t that fantastic ? i must admit i am prominent and fixated in the sheer brilliance and technology of blu-ray? if you have not got a tv that can produce these spectacular images i suggest you get one, eg Sharp Aquos 1080p .

Obivously you don't know your HD lcd tvs, go look anywhere on the web and see the reviews eg ps3om, samsungs are good, but i done my own reasearch and came up with LC-42XDIE, you are going by the vast marketing by ms has they have done a deal with samsung for samsung to sell there tvs and in turn samsung back the failing at the moment (HDDVD).
As i say go anywhere on the web and get a review of the tv, i have made it easy for you by giving you the number of the tv aswell, has picture quality it's one of the best, i paid six months ago £1599 its dropped since.:sleepy:

I have a BenQ 32" LCD and it gets an awesome picture. Samsung and Sharp are really good TV's as well. (Y)
No surprise that Blu-ray is outselling HD-DVD with all the studio support Blu-ray has the war was over on paper long ago. MS is backing HD-DVD to create a split in the industry. It's not panning out as well as they planned.

And the ---- industry is backing HD-DVD. The ---- industry backed VHS yonder ago, and where is Betamax now? I'm not saying case closed, I'm just saying give it a year or so.

Squire that was twenty years ago video players were new the whole genre was new, nobody gives a hoot nowadays if you want ---- now download it to ones pc hd.
Common sense will tell you that blu-ray is a much better format to work with, and it's not that the ---- industry really wanted HDDVD it was blu-ray and sony didn't want them.:sleepy:

When the ---- industry backed VHS most people didn't have internet access. Nowadays most people don't pay for ---- when there are so many free ---- sites on the internet.
Link and quote from the article:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17033892/site/newsweek/page/0/
"Which leads us to the Blu-ray myth. If people aren’t buying adult DVDs in the numbers the “official” estimates suggest—and, in fact, if cable and free online ---- is driving the demand for physical product even lower—how does it make sense that ---- will be the deciding factor in the battle for supremacy between Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats? It’s been received as conventional wisdom for a generation that VHS beat out Betamax as the dominant videotape technology because the adult industry threw its lot in with the former. That may even be true, but times have changed. Sony, a leading manufacturer of Blu-ray Discs, has all but publicly refused to license the technology to adult film companies, leading to breathless speculation that HD-DVD will emerge as the mainstream standard. But already Vivid Entertainment has announced it has found a way to replicate the technology and is simultaneously re-releasing the golden ---- oldie “Debbie Does Dallas” on Blu-Ray and HD-DVD next month.
“I'm not sure ---- will play too big a role in determining which standard rules,” e-mails DiGiorgio. “In the past, ---- embraced new technologies that were just gaining a foothold. DVDs are not new, and I don't think consumers perceive Blu-Ray and HD-DVD as new technologies. Instead, they see them as an evolution of an existing technology.... With Blu-ray [versus] HD-DVD, ---- will go where the masses go.” In other words, ---- is not driving the bus—it’s riding shotgun".

Well I'll think you'll find that Blu-ray and HD-DVD players are pretty new aswell. If you want a movie you'll download it to one's PC HDD
And why is it a much better format, they're practically the same thing on the surface.
When the ---- industry backed VHS most people didn't have internet access. Nowadays most people don't pay for ---- when there are so many free ---- sites on the internet.
And now that people have access to high speed internet its as easy as pie to download the latest releases, in HD aswell. Free or not.
I'd go with what many are saying, whoever "wins" the battle will ultimately lose the war within a few years since digital distrabution is the future.

Sorry a didnt see this post, Ye MS are hardly giving the format attention, I've been on a couple of sites tonight with Bluray banners. MS needs to start pushing the format or its money wasted.

Oh, and that last bit "People buy dvds now for there collection they didn't twenty years ago" Wow, yeah, you win, with that how can I ever possibly hope to top that, you managed to counter act all my points in one sentance.

Its because Microsoft arn't that fussed about it, they're all for digital distribution. They only chose HD-DVD because it wasn't Sony :p

Anyway just to add some more fuel to the fire.........
Film rental firm Blockbuster is to rent high-definition DVDs only in the Blu-ray format at 1,450 US stores.
Blockbuster said that consumers have chosen Blu-ray over HD DVD in the 250 stores where both were available.
The limited choice of titles in the HD DVD format was also a factor in focusing on Blu-ray, Blockbuster said.
SOURCE (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6762621.stm)
So it seems that a big rental firm are dropping the HDDVD's in favour of the Blu-ray format instead in loads of its stores in the US. Thats a bit of a blow for HDDVD.
