Often you will hear from gamers from one console group or the other "Your system has no quality games". In the last 6 months this has been true for owners of PS3, we hear it all the time. SPG has set out to investigate these claims.

To attempt impartiality on this topic we have used the ratings of MetaCritic.com. MetaCritic is owned by C|net and only rates games where their exists a minimum of 5 reviews from known, quality review sites. MetaCritic then averages these scores out.

The above chart then dispays the percentage of reviewed games with scores over 80% and under 50% for each console.
Reality Check Consoles (PS3/X360/PS2/Wii):

Of all current consoles the PS3 has the HIGHEST percentage of games rated over 80%.

Of all current consoles the X360 has the LOWEST percentage of games rated under 50%

The Wii has the LOWEST percentage of games over 80% and the MOST under 50% of any console.

Reality Check Handhelds (PSP/DS):

The PSP has the HIGHEST percentage of games over 80% and the LOWEST percentage under 50%

Conclusions:

Consumers are willing to forgo quality games to get a better price. Both the DS and Wii are providing the lowest cost of entry to video gaming but offering the least in terms of game quality vs other consoles.

Well with only 28 Games available for the PS3, of which 17 where released Prior on the Xbox 360. I think they may want to investigate the Lack of Games rather than the Quality behind them. Which the vast majority of their games are Multi-Format so their quality is some what of a Mute Point.

i agree in some ways....but the rest are ----e as they are 360 ports. Im hoping the rest don't slip with their dates as they need to show how good they are (PS3). 4 of my PS3 games made way for my Wii - bring on the fun games for now

here's a few that spring to mind for the ps3

MGS4, Gran Turismo 5/HD, Lair, Little Big Planet, Drakes Fortune, Heavenly Sword...ouch

The only games I like the look of is Resistance, Motorstorm, and Big little Planet. Maybe MGS4, but I've never really liked them.

I dont think the PS3 has better games at all at the moment, but it hasnt been out as long as the 360, given time it could surpass the 360. But not yet.

Well I suppose it all boils down to what you'd consider yourself to be a quality game, we all have different opinions on what is a quality game is and what isn't. The PS3 has some good games out for it but not in the volume that the 360 has. Since it hasn't been out long as phat said above then you can only judge it on what is out at the present time. Resistance Fall Of Man is a quality title, its a shame that it isn't on the 360 as it would be a better game with the capabilities of xbox :live:.

I've played almost every PS3 game a year before it released on the PS3. Not really, but a lot of their games have been on other systems for awhile before.

Motorostorm is the only game that doesnt dissappoint on the PS3, but still doesnt have enough tracks.

It has nothing to do with who has better games.
All this relies in the hands of the gamer/consumer.
Just because the "graph' shows higher percentage in PS3,
dosent mean im gonna sell my 360 and buy a PS3 lol.
